parked the car in a field / woman at the door drew a star on the back of my hand / S. stole a barstool out of the photo booth & propped it against the wall / we missed most of Brood X (but would see them again) / woman next to me wore a long sleeve Iggy shirt ("It was dumb but it's so cool") / Hentchmen never played with the Gories before / Towels!!! / “our patron saint, John Lee Hooker “ / nodding heads / ecstatic pogos / LEAVING HERE / unconscious shimmying / it’s the kind of crowded where you consciously make sure you know where the closest exit is / “the man next to me is writing an email to RJ Smith” / I could usually see Mick / sometimes Danny was blocked by a tall person / at least I could always see Peggy / NITROGLICERINE!! / I can’t tell you what it was like then but I can tell you what it is now / it was hot and dark and loud no one was on their fucking phone / it was religion for everyone in some form, even the people who spent the whole night on the patio
it just needed to be louder.
