Dave Marsh departed the planet yesterday. I would not be here, writing, if it were not for Dave. He was a friend, an influence, and a mentor. I'm going to be writing a longer tribute for my Salon column early next month, which is why this isn't the lengthy tribute piece you are rightly expecting here.
But I definitely captured a lot of my feelings about Dave's life and influence in this piece I wrote when his last anthology was published:
